Defender “Salavat Yulaev” Semenov remembered the worst fight in NHL

Defenseman Alexei Semenov, last season has spent for “Salavat Yulaev”, told about the most terrible fight when he was playing in the NHL for the Edmonton oilers.

For Edmonton 39-year-old hockey player played from 2002 to 2006, also in the NHL he played for “Florida” and “San Jose”.

— The worst a fist fight, probably the first. For me it was the second game in the NHL. We played in San Jose, someone pushed me outside the gate, and I answered. And then I see that me running someone huge, it was Shawn Thornton, tough guy of this team. I just got him, two hit — think of all the things I go out… And then Sean suddenly changes hands and gets me with a left to the face. Not much, but sighting. We fall together, but as he grabbed both my hands, I face fell straight into the ice, cut my nose and forehead. When he got up, face was covered in blood. You should have seen Eugene Nabokov, when I drove past him. Then he told me: “When I saw your face, didn’t even know who it is.” I just got stitches on his forehead and nose in the nurse’s office and I still managed to play this game, — quotes the words of Semenov’s “Sports weekend”.

Recall that the April 30 contract expired Semenov from Ufa club, but the management of “Salavat” considers the possibility to extend the agreement with the player for another season.

Last draw of the regular championship KHL Semenov spent 37 matches, scoring 5 (1+4) points.
