SOCHI, July 24. /TASS/. Russian fighter Alexander Emelyanenko will carry out fight against fellow countryman Magomed Ismailov in the tournament Championship Absolute Akhmat (ACA) in Sochi. The fight will take place in the heavyweight division and will consist of three rounds.
Initially the fight was to be held in April in Moscow, but was postponed because of the pandemic coronavirus. Ismailov is a soldier of average weight, so on the eve of the match with Emelianenko, he had to gain more than 10 kg.
“Of course, it is unusual. I’m heavier reaction a bit slower. Expect the first round. If the fight drags on, it will be difficult,” – said Ismailov TASS.
Emelianenko has lost 20 kg on the eve of the match. He believes that Ismailov has no chance because of the large difference in weight. At the weigh-in before the fight, Emelianenko was heavier than 22.5 kg.
The match in Sochi was initially planned to be held with the audience, but later ACA had to abandon this idea. Fans who already bought tickets will get full payment.
Emelianenko, who has won over 20 career wins by knockout, is considered the favorite of the match, but Ismailov is not afraid of the power of his opponent. “I have a little nervousness and jitters. If the yips are not, then people will not see this Magomed Ismailov in a cage. I’m not afraid [Emelianenko], but the excitement will be present two hours before the fight,” – said Ismailov.
