Sergey Smyshlyaev. Challenge men’s team Russia in volleyball at the start of the European championship is a title defense, said the Secretary General of Russian volleyball Federation (vfv), Alexander Yaremenko.

The Russians won the European championship in 2017 and summer 2019 were winners of the League of Nations. The European championship will be held in four countries – France, Slovenia, Belgium and the Netherlands. It will be attended by 24 teams. Rivals of Russians in the group stage will be national teams of Slovenia, Finland, Turkey, Macedonia and Belarus. The tournament kicks off on 12 September.

“The task is set to the maximum, and the other for the current champion can not be. The team is able to win. The team is going to win. It’s hard when you are in the rank of the current champion and the favorite. For the first time format, 24 teams in four countries, is extended in time, this too has difficulty. To the final games to preserve the spirit,” – said Yaremenko reporters.

Women’s national team in September will participate in the world Cup, after which the Presidium of the IEF will consider the appointment of a new head coach. Tuesday Vadim Pankov left the post of chief coach of the female national team, the acting was Sergio Busato.

“The challenge for the women’s national team to perform well. This prestigious tournament. With all strong opponents have to meet, the tournament is circular, it is necessary to beat one strong team, and all strong teams. The tournament complex. Task – to achieve maximum results to teams finish the season on a good note. And to play in Japan, it is very important to feel the atmosphere in the pre-Olympic year”, – said the Secretary General of the IEF.
