It is reported that the deal is close to completion, and the change of the owner of the club will be announced before the end of the week. According to the source, the total transaction will amount to 2.35 billion dollars and will be a record for sports clubs.
In April last year, Prokhorov sold the Cai 49% of the shares of the team for $ 1 billion. Under the deal, Cai is entitled to redeem the remaining shares in the club before the start of season 2021/22 over 1.35 billion dollars.
Prokhorov bought 80% stake in the club in 2009, when it was still called “new Jersey nets”. In 2010, the NBA approved the purchase of the club.
