Shaykhantakhur district criminal court of Tashkent sentenced seven citizens of Uzbekistan to six years and three months imprisonment each for assault and stabbing MMA fighter (mixed martial arts) Chanturia Murad, told RIA Novosti on Tuesday the representative of the court.
Hanturayev nicknamed the “Asian bear” champion of the World Ertaymash Federation MMA heavyweight in 2016, in November of last year was hospitalized with two stab wounds that did not threaten his life. Police later arrested seven local residents on the case of hooliganism and assault.
“The court sentenced seven citizens of Uzbekistan, attacked Chanturia, to six years three months imprisonment each,” – said the representative of the court. According to him, they were all found guilty of committing a crime under article “deliberate heavy injury” of the Criminal code of Uzbekistan. This article provides for punishment up to eight years of imprisonment.
This is not the first attack on Chanturia. In June 2018, the fighter had been stabbed in the chest after a mass brawl in one of entertaining institutions of the capital of Uzbekistan. At the hospital, he was detained by the police, and later the court fined the athlete almost 2 thousand dollars under the article “hooliganism”.
In March the Tashkent city court on criminal cases sentenced the security guard of one of night clubs of the capital of Uzbekistan to 18 years in prison for the murder of another well-known in Central Asia MMA fighter, champion of Uzbekistan Jamshid Kenjaev. The athlete was stabbed to death in one of night clubs of Tashkent after a quarrel with the guards of the institution.
