Six Russian players gathered in two major leagues in Germany. We tell – who is where

Six players with a Russian passport entered the clubs of the two main divisions of Germany for the season. Two play in the first Bundesliga, four in the second. The championships have just started. We tell you who our fans should follow in German football.

Andrey Lunev, goalkeeper, Bayer

Lunev’s transfer to the Bundesliga was like a bolt from the blue. Before the start of the season, the goalkeeper took part in two friendly matches of Bayer: played to zero in the debut meeting with Freiburg and conceded three goals (two – from the penalty spot) from Utrecht. In the last preseason game, Lunev remained in reserve, as in the first round of the Bundesliga with Union. The first number in the German club is Hradecki. Perhaps the Russian will get playing time in the German Cup. It should not be ruled out that the coaching staff will bet on Lunev in the Europa League games, although this is also unlikely.

Vladislav Cherny, midfielder, Arminia

And this name will not tell the average fan. The 18-year-old native of Magnitogorsk has been living and training in Germany since childhood. For the last three seasons, Black has been running for the youth teams of Arminia, and now he trains with the main team of the club and was included in the application for the 2021/2022 season. Vladislav could have made his debut for Arminia on August 7, but did not enter the field in the cup game against Bayreuth (6: 3). If you are following a Bundesliga rookie, then look for the guy at number 37. Despite having two citizenships, Vladislav has not played for any of the national teams. Interestingly, the RFU is following the development of Cherny’s career?

Second Bundesliga

Konstantin Rausch, defender, Nuremberg

Rausch became the fourth Russian in the second Bundesliga. The defender has played more than 300 matches for German clubs (Hannover 96, Stuttgart, Darmstadt 98, Cologne) and will soon continue this score.

Rausch’s new team has already started in the championship and, having caught two draws and having won, is in fifth place. In addition, Nuremberg passed Ulm in the German Cup. In the new team, Rausch entered the top five most expensive players in the club.

Alexander Zhirov, defender, Sandhausen

After eight years of wandering around Russian clubs and leagues, Zhirov left for Germany. In 2018, the defender signed a five-year contract with Sandhausen and grew to captain in three years. Since October 2020, Zhirov has been called up to the Russian national team, played four matches in reserve, but did not appear on the field. The Sandhausen coaching staff entrusted the captain’s armband to the Russian only this season: with her he flew from Leipzig (0: 4) in the German Cup, lost two starting matches in the championship and played one game in a draw.

Anton Mitryushkin, goalkeeper, Dynamo Dresden

Mitryushkin’s German career is not going well. After an unsuccessful period at Fortune, the ex-goalkeeper of Spartak moved to Dynamo Dresden, where Stanislav Cherchesov played in the 90s. However, even there, Mitryushkin has not yet succeeded: he lost the competition and spent three starting rounds on the bench. Anton did not get playing time in the Cup either. Without him, Dynamo won two dry home victories and shared points with Hamburg on the road. Maybe it was still worth agreeing to the super offer from Russia?

Yaroslav Mikhailov, midfielder, Schalke

On July 13, Mikhailov went on loan to Schalke and immediately began to prove his worth. Yaroslav gave an assist in the debut match, and a week later scored the first goal in the German Cup, making it clear to the coaching staff that his place was in the first team, not a backup. After the football player’s words about who is an example for him, such a powerful start becomes clear. “Tymoshchuk or Denisov? Denisov more. He also did a lot of work, but he was a phenomenal midfielder: he was great at taking balls, enlivening the space. A real wall, ”Mikhailov said.

In the third official match for Schalke, the Russian appeared from the first minutes and was replaced with the score 1: 0 in favor of his team. The 18-year-old midfielder has much to strive for – Schalke are going to return to the Bundesliga.

Bonus: Max Bezushkov, midfielder, Yan

The 24-year-old midfielder was born in Germany and has played there throughout his career. Bezushkov does not have a Russian passport, but he is going to get one and play for our national team. “Max is close to getting a Russian passport. We hope that this will happen no later than June. Max has improved a lot over the past two years at Regensburg – it’s time to take the next step. Russian clubs have already been interested in the possibility of Max’s transfer to the Premier League, and we are moving in this direction. His mother and father were born in your country, he speaks fluent Russian, it would be interesting for him to play in the RPL, ”the football player’s agent said in May.

So far, there has been no news about the issuance of Russian citizenship. In any case, if Bezushkov continues to play the way he started in the new season, it will become possible. The midfielder scored in the Cup, gave an assist in the first match of the championship and scored the winning goal in the third round. No match without effective action! Bezushkov’s bomber qualities have been developed since the days of the academy: in the 2013/2014 season, he scored 18 goals and gave five assists for Stuttgart U17, and the next year for the same number of games he scored 12 goals and made three assists, but already in the U19 team.
