Barcelona intend to prevent the transfer of former team striker Lionel Messi to PSG.
According to the source, the Catalan club sosos filed a complaint with the European Commission. They emphasize that Parisians do not comply with the rules of financial fair play.
The document states that in the 2019/20 season, PSG spent 99 percent of the taxes on salaries, and Barcelona – 54%. Based on this information, the sosos conclude that the Parisians cannot qualify for signing Messi, since their compliance with the FFP is worse than that of the Catalans.
In this way they want to block the forward’s transfer to PSG.
Earlier, Barcelona President Joan Laporta said the club could not afford to sign a new agreement with the 34-year-old Argentine due to the financial fair play conditions.
Messi’s deal with Barcelona expired at the end of June. On August 5, the press service of the Catalans issued an official statement that the Argentinean would not renew the contract. The main contender for the player is called PSG, which has already sent an official contract to the forward’s father and agent.
Messi is a Barcelona alumnus and played for the club from 2003 to 2021.
