The goalkeeper Sorokin signed the contract with club of NHL “new York islanders” for the season 2020/21

TASS, July 14. Russian goalie Ilya Sorokin has signed an agreement with a club of National hockey League (NHL) “new York islanders” for the season 2020/21. About it reports a press-service of the club.

Sorokin signed a rookie contract with the islanders on the night of Monday to Tuesday. According to regulations, the rookie contract with 24-year-old athlete can’t sign more than one season. Thanks to the new collective agreement year of this contract will be in season 2019/20, while the Russian goalie will not be able to play for the islanders for the remainder of the season. The maximum amount of the rookie contract is $0,925 million salary Sorokin on a new agreement not specified.

According to the journalist of TV channel Sportsnet’s Elliott Friedman, the agreement is valued at $2 million, half of which – subscription bonus.

Sorokin is the pupil of Novokuznetsk “metallurg”, which in 2014 he moved on to CSKA Moscow. In the army of Sorokin won the Gagarin Cup in the season 2018/19. Only in the NHL he spent 313 matches, scoring 184 victory in the main time, on average, reflecting a 93.2% shots on goal with the reliability coefficient of 1.62. Sorokin is the winner of the Olympic games in 2018, also on account of his three bronze medals from world Championships.

Sorokin was selected by the islanders in the third round draft pick in 2014 under the overall 78-m number. Also for the club stands another Russian goalie Semyon Varlamov.
