The most expensive footballers who are out of work. In the top – two former Spartak

During this transfer window, many players left their clubs as free agents. Some have already managed to find a new job, but someone is still in search. We are talking about the most expensive footballers who are out of work.

Transfermarkt cost: € 3.5 million

This summer, the former Spartak midfielder left the Chinese Beijing Guoan and became a free agent. The Brazilian played for the red and white for three and a half years, winning the long-awaited championship with the club in the 2016/2017 season. Fernando played an important role in the midfield of Spartak, and his free kicks are still remembered with enthusiasm by many fans of the red and white.

The footballer’s agent Mateus De Faria stated several times that the 29-year-old Brazilian would be happy to return to the Moscow club. Fernando even had preliminary negotiations with Spartak, but the management of the red and white ruled out his transfer due to the limit on legionnaires.

During the two years spent in China, the midfielder took part for Beijing Guoan in 27 matches, scored four goals and gave one assist. Now Fernando is close to returning to his homeland – he is offered a contract by Flamengo.

David Louis

Transfermarkt cost: € 4 million

Louis became a free agent after his contract with Arsenal expired. There he spent 73 matches, scored four goals and gave one assist. The Brazilian was often haunted by injuries, so the Londoners decided not to renew the agreement with him.

In July, journalist Nikolo Skira sent David to the Turkish Super League club Adana Demirspor, claiming that he would receive about € 4 million a year there. The transfer failed, and the 34-year-old defender is preparing for the season on an individual program with a coach.

Jose Izquierdo

Transfermarkt cost: € 4 million

The Colombian has played for English Brighton for the past four years. True, he played only 54 matches for him, scored five goals and gave six assists. It’s all to blame for an unpleasant knee injury, due to which Izquierdo had to miss most of his games in the Premier League. At the same time, he came to Russia for the 2018 World Cup as part of the Colombian national team and even appeared on the field in a match with Japan. Now 29-year-old Izquierdo is at home, but in the comments on Instagram he is being wooed into Galatasaray.

Clement Grenier

Transfermarkt cost: € 4 million

The 30-year-old Frenchman has played the last three seasons at Rennes. There Grenier played 93 matches (9 goals, 12 assists). In February 2019, the Rennes midfielder helped the referee cancel an erroneously awarded penalty. Then he admitted that he was not fouled.

Six months later, Zenit became interested in the footballer. Yahoo Sport France reported that St. Petersburg residents made an offer for Grenier, but Rennes refused. Now Clement has left the club as a free agent. He spends more time with his family and does not forget to keep fit.

Nicolas N’Kulu

Transfermarkt cost: € 5 million

N’Kulu left Torino this summer after his contract expired. The 31-year-old Cameroonian has played 135 matches for the Italian club and scored five goals. In June last year, during the support of the Black Lives Matter campaign, before the match, he approached Andrea Belotti and knelt in front of him. The press service of “Torino” posted a photo on Twitter, which caused discontent among users.

In March, Manchester United and Leeds showed interest in N’Kul. But the African defender has yet to find a new club.

Roger Gedes

Transfermarkt cost: € 7.5 million

In 2016, forward Gedes could have ended up in Spartak or Zenit, and two years later, Shakhtar Donetsk drew attention to him. As a result, the 24-year-old footballer has not yet made it to Europe. At home, he played for Chrysiuma, Palmeiras and Atletico Mineiro, and for the past three years has played for Shandong Luneng. In China, Gedes played 53 matches, showing impressive performance. The Brazilian has scored 27 goals and provided 10 assists. Now he is being sent to Corinthians, and his move to Europe is, apparently, again postponed indefinitely.

Jerome Boateng

Transfermarkt cost: € 8.5 million

After ten years at Bayern (363 games), Boateng left the club as a free agent. At the end of June, “Hertha” wanted to reunite the brothers in Berlin. Kevin-Prince quickly agreed, and Jerome said he wanted to play overseas. 32-year-old Boateng negotiated with Sevilla, but they were unsuccessful. PSV and Manchester United also showed interest in the German. Now Boateng is engaged in an individual program.

Nikola Maksimovich

Transfermarkt cost: € 10 million

In January 2018, the defender came to Spartak on loan at the invitation of Massimo Carrera . As part of the red and white Maksimovich played 11 matches and helped the Moscow club become the bronze medalist of the championship in the 2017/2018 season. The Serb showed himself great, but Spartak’s management did not want to extend the lease or buy out the player. Maksimovich returned to Napoli and now left the club.

In March, Everton, West Ham, Inter and Roma were interested in him. And the Italian edition Calciomercato is now sending Maksimovich to Juventus as a replacement for Daniele Rugani, who may very soon leave Turin. Rumor has it that the 29-year-old already has an offer from Genoa, but he still wants to wait for a request from Juventus.
