The Russian government will amend the law on the sale of alcoholic beverages on the territory of stadiums.
The corresponding document has already been signed by Deputy Prime Minister – Head of the Government Staff Dmitry Grigorenko.
The authorities propose not to extend the ban on the sale of alcohol in stadiums to retail trade in beer and beer drinks carried out by organizations and individual entrepreneurs. Competitions where beer can be traded are established by the government and only by agreement with all-Russian sports federations and leagues.
Tournaments for children and youth sports events will remain outside the law.
The proceeds from the sale of beer are used to finance events for the development of professional sports, elite sports and youth sports. At the same time, at least 20% of the funds received will go to children and youth sports.
– Probably, in the autumn there are prospects for its adoption, and from next year it will begin to operate . We believe these ideas deserve support. The document does not specify the sport. We are talking in general about sports and the possibility of trading at sports facilities, – said Azat Kadyrov, First Deputy Minister of Sports of the Russian Federation.
The ban on the sale of beer at sports facilities in Russia has been in effect since 2005. On December 13, 2019, in the first reading, the State Duma adopted a bill to lift the ban on the retail sale of beer at official football competitions.
