TASS, February 12. Stage of world championship racing in the class machines “Formula-1” in Shanghai, China postponed indefinitely due to the coronavirus. About it reports a press-service of the International automobile Federation (FIA).

“In connection with the spread of the novel coronavirus and after long discussions with the Federation of automobile and motorcycle sports of the people’s Republic of China and the Shanghai administration of sports, the promoter of the Grand Prix of China Juss Sports Group formally appealed to the FIA with the request to postpone the Grand Prix of China, is reported in the statement of the International automobile Federation. – FIA together with the leadership of “Formula 1”, together accepted the request about the postponement of the Grand Prix indefinitely. Chinese stage for a long time is an important part of the calendar, “Formula 1″, the community of motorsports looks forward to racing in China and wants everyone in the country all the best during this difficult time.”

The Chinese Grand Prix was to be held from 17 to 19 April. The stage “Formulas-1” in China is from 2004. More often – five times – the winner of the race on the track of Shanghai International Circuit was a six-time world champion Briton Lewis Hamilton.

The last time the Grand Prix “Formula-1” was canceled in 2011. It happened in Bahrain because of the mass protests in the country. Earlier, the FIA has postponed carrying out of Grand Prix in the class of cars “Formula-E” as scheduled in China because of the coronavirus. The competition was held on 21 March in Sanya.

Outbreak of pneumonia caused by a virus COVID-19, was recorded in a large Chinese city of Wuhan at the end of December 2019. The world health organization recognized it as an emergency situation on an international scale, describing as an epidemic, with many lesions. Outside China, cases of infection were identified in 24 countries, including Russia. The Chinese authorities have already confirmed more than 44.6 thousand cases of infection with the novel coronavirus, more than 1.1 thousand infected died, recovered more than 4.7 thousand people.
