US honor the memory of the deceased Iranian football cheerleaders Sugar of Hodari, who set himself on fire because she threatened jail time for the trip to the stadium, told reporters, state Department spokesman Morgan Ortagus.
“We honor her memory and support the God-given rights of Iranian women. No one should fear discrimination and prison for attending sports events”, – said Ortagus.

Last week, the 29-year-old Hodari attempted self-immolation in front of the prosecutors after learned that she might face a prison term of six months. The girl suffered 90% of burns of a body, she was taken to the hospital, where on Monday she died.
Cheerleaders in Iran are forbidden to attend football games and men’s teams to attend the stadiums. Concessions were made during the 2018 world Cup in Russia, when in Iran for watching the matches of the national team cheerleaders could get at the Tehran stadium “Azadi”, specially equipped for broadcasting.
